Evangelicals Question The Existence Of Adam And Eve

It is very interesting that ancient Christian writers and later Anglican writers never were troubled by this question. The earliest writers were not concerned with whether the biblical stories were factual or historical, but were more interested in the deeper truths that the stories revealed.

Interesting reading...Enjoy!

Stephen Colbert

A couple of my facebook classmates posted a really great quote from The Colbert Report and I want to share it with you:

“If this is going to be a Christian nation that doesn’t help the poor, either we have to pretend that Jesus is just as selfish as we are or we’ve got to acknowledge that he commanded us to love the poor and serve the needy without condition, and then admit that we just don’t want to do it.”

Can we say Ouch! Convicted!

OK Trinity and St. John's, don't forget the meeting on August 8th at 7 PM where we can take a huge first step in helping the least among us.

Lord, save us from your followers

"Lord, save us from your followers" is a documentary by Dan Merchant as he travels across the country addressing Christianity's face to the unchurched of our country. What we discover is funny, sad, and scary with a whole lot of hope thrown in. Very Powerful. It is available to stream from Netflix.

USA Today writes, "Michael Moore-meets-Monty Python. A humorous and heartfelt examination of the culture wars."

Words of Wisdom

"I mourn the loss of thousands of precious lives, but I will not rejoice in the death of one, not even an enemy. Returning hate for hate multiplies hate, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that" ~ Martin Luther King Jr

Lord in your mercy, Hear our Prayer

Although it is a day where many are rejoicing let us remember Proverbs 24:17:

Do not gloat when your enemy falls; when they stumble do not let your heart rejoice.

Let us pray:
O God, the Father of all, whose Son commanded us to love our enemies: Lead them and us from prejudice to truth; deliver them and us from hatred, cruelty, and revenge; and in your good time enable us all to stand reconciled before you; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. (Book of Common Prayer, pg. 816)
